When abortion is tolerated by us

Yep, you read that correctly. When abortion is tolerated by us, the people of the pro-life movement. When is that, you might ask! Well, let me tell you. When certain pro-life groups support and promote legislation such as the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (CIANA) which makes it a crime to transport a minor across state lines for an abortion without her parents' permission.

Pro-life apologists for the bill claim it is a recognition of parental rights. They say nobody should be able to take a minor across state lines for an abortion if the parents are not aware that the abortion is going to occur. I guess that means that if the parents do the driving or OK the third party to do the driving, everything is fine.

So, if I get this right, a parent has to approve before their own child gets an abortion out of state, but if the kid wants an abortion in state, that is a different matter.

This is so confusing because I always thought that pro-lifers were dedicated to ending the killing, not making sure that grandparents were in sync with aborting a baby before the killing is done.

There is something wrong with this picture!

As I read your comments I could help but think of Abraham pleading with our Lord to save the depraved cities of Sodom and Gomorrah from His wrath. In his pleadings God promised Abraham that if there were ten good people He would not destroy the cities. As we know they were destroyed. Are there ten good people in government who are willing to stand up for life? Doesn't seem like it! How long will God be patient with us? How long will He withhold His wrath?

I am against all abortions, but I supported this legislation as just another method of chipping away at abortion on demand. It may not be the perfect legislation but I look at it as one small step forward and a way to make those people who take a minor child across state lines for a clandestine abortion accountable. My support did not mean that I thought it was okay for the child to get an abortion in her home state or that it was acceptable as long as the parents were notified.
